Best Wine Club Reviews started in 2010 because the available review sites were, without exception, either promotional or generic. We couldn't find a resource that honestly assessed whether a wine subscription was worth the money — not just whether the wine was "enjoyable," but whether the quality matched the price, whether the company treated its customers well when things went wrong, and whether the bottles you received matched the ones being advertised.
So we built one. Over fifteen years, we've joined over 100 clubs, received hundreds of shipments, and tasted somewhere north of 5,000 individual bottles. We've cancelled clubs that weren't delivering. We've argued about scores. We've updated reviews when quality changed. The work is ongoing.
Our Review Process
Every club on this site has been reviewed through direct membership — not press samples or gifted access. We pay for the memberships ourselves. This is the only way to experience what a real subscriber actually receives, including the customer service interactions, the packaging, the condition bottles arrive in, and whether the "satisfaction guarantee" works the way it claims to.
Our scoring system evaluates five areas, each weighted equally in the final score:
- Wine Quality (0–10): How well-made are the bottles? Are they honest about the variety and region? Do they taste like the price they cost?
- Value for Money (0–10): What would equivalent wine cost at retail? Are subscribers paying a fair premium or being overcharged for convenience?
- Flexibility (0–10): How easy is it to skip a shipment, change the plan, or cancel? Do they make the process simple or deliberately complicated?
- Customer Service (0–10): Do they respond promptly? Do they honour guarantees without argument? Have real problems been resolved fairly?
- Shipping & Packaging (0–10): Do bottles arrive in good condition? Is cold-chain shipping handled properly in summer? Is the packaging adequate for the journey?
Why You Can Trust This Site
We earn affiliate commissions when readers join clubs through our links. We disclose this clearly. A commission does not change a review score. Clubs we've given poor scores to have their affiliate links listed. Clubs that declined to offer affiliate partnerships are reviewed the same as those that did. The score reflects the wine, not the commercial relationship.
We update reviews regularly. If a club's quality changes, the score changes. Several clubs on this site have had their scores revised downward when their product deteriorated. Several have improved and had scores raised.
Who We Are
We're a small team of wine drinkers who got tired of bad wine subscription advice. Nobody on the team holds a Master of Wine or a WSET Diploma — we're informed enthusiasts with fifteen years of hands-on comparison experience, not credentialled academics. We think that makes us a better guide for most wine drinkers than someone whose frame of reference is grand cru Burgundy.

Our Affiliate Relationship
Most links to wine clubs on this site are affiliate links. We earn a small commission if you join through our link, at no extra cost to you. Full details are in our affiliate disclosure. Our editorial independence is non-negotiable — no club has ever paid for a positive review.
